The Xperia C hit shelves back in July, but the Indian customers have been left out of the initial rollout. However, this is about to change and one of the few Sony Xperia smartphones to support dual-SIM will arrive in India in the coming weeks.

According to AndroidOS, citing sources close to the matter, Sony Xperia C will be released in India in late September or early October.

While there is no confirmation regarding the phone’s price tag in India, the anonymous source claims that it will be available for under Rs 20,000 ($315 / €235) outright.

Aside from bringing dual-SIM support, the most requested feature by Indian customers, Sony Xperia C offers a more than decent 5-inch qHD capacitive touchscreen display that supports 540 x 960 pixels resolution and 16 million colors.

We’re not sure yet what version of Android will run on Xperia C dual-SIM variant, but we hope it will be powered by Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. Still, keep in mind that this has yet to be confirmed by Sony India.

Given the fact the Xperia C is aimed at emerging markets, Sony opted for a MediaTek MT6589 chipset, which packs a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor and a PowerVR SGX544 graphics processing unit inside.

In addition, the smartphone features 1GB of RAM and only 4GB of internal memory, but users will be able to add more storage via microSD memory card (up to 32GB).

The handset also boasts an 8-megapixel photo snapper on the back, which features autofocus, LED flash and full HD (1080p) video recording, as well as a secondary VGA camera for video calls.

Last but not least, Sony Xperia C drains energy from a removable 2390 mAh Li-Ion battery, which is rated by the manufacturer for up to 588 hours of standby time (605 hours in 3G mode) or up to 14 hours of talk time (12.4 hours in 3G mode).
