Philips India has just added another Android smartphone to its portfolio, the S388. The handset is not necessarily new, but it hasn’t been available in the country until this week.

Philips S388 will be up for purchase in the territory in the not so distant future for Rs. 13,694 ($225 / €170) off-contract, but it might go on sale cheaper at various online retailers.

The smartphone offers dual-SIM capability (WCDMA and GSM) and features dual coverage. The only downside seems to be the fact that it will ship with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean operating system out of the box.

Other than that, the handset seems pretty decent when it comes to specs. According to Philips India, the S388 sports a 4.5-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display that supports qHD (540 x 960 pixels) resolution.

The phone also packs a 5-megapixel main camera on the back, which features autofocus, LED flash, and video recording, while in the front there’s a secondary VGA camera for video calls.

Hardware-wise, Philips S388 is equipped with a 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6582M processor, 1GB of RAM, and 4GB of internal memory, which can be further expanded up to 32GB via microSD card slot.

The handset is powered by a 1700 mAh battery and features 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS with A-GPS connectivity options. FM Radio and 3.5mm audio jack are included as well.
