A new dual-SIM smartphone is expected to be added to the Lumia series of devices in the not-too-distant future, namely the Lumia 530, which is also said to be another very affordable handset from Microsoft.

The yet unannounced mobile phone has been spotted at the FCC with model number RM-1020 attached to it, after receiving the necessary approvals in Thailand recently.

As Nokiapoweruser points out, the FCC listing for this smartphone reveals the fact that it will feature dual-SIM functionality, which would make it the second Windows Phone 8.1 handset to arrive on shelves with such features.

The first of them was the Lumia 630, which started to arrive on shelves on various markets out there several weeks ago.

The new phone, however, should be cheaper than the Lumia 630, thus capable of attracting even more users to its side. Basically, it could potentially be as successful as the Lumia 520 was before it.

Said FCC listing for RM-1020 shows two IMEI numbers on its label, thus suggesting that it would be a dual-SIM device. Moreover, it is expected to offer dual-standby capabilities.

The mobile phone has emerged at the FCC with the same size as the RM-1018, which has received the necessary approvals en route to T-Mobile (previously, this device model was rumored with the codename of Nokia Rock).

Thus, the dual-SIM Lumia 530 should arrive on shelves with a body measuring 119.7 x 62.3mm, and which should include the same battery used in Lumia 520 and Lumia 521.

Unlike Nokia Rock, however, the upcoming entry-level Windows Phone 8.1 handset will deliver its dual-SIM goodies to users in Australia and Thailand, it seems. The FCC listing is for the handset’s flavor destined for these two markets.

However, this does not mean that the smartphone will be available exclusively on these markets, but that variants designed for other regions haven’t been spotted as of now.

Dual-SIM devices are highly appreciated in many countries out there, especially on emerging markets, and cheap phones that offer the functionality are the most sought for there.

According to a leaked release schedule for three yet unannounced Nokia phones, we might see the Lumia 530 made official sometime in August, and the dual-SIM version should come along it.

However, no official confirmation on the matter has been provided as of now, and we’re still uncertain whether Nokia RM-1020 will indeed be announced as the next cheapest Windows Phone 8.1 out there. Stay tuned to learn more on the matter.
