Lava Mobiles is boosting its Android lineup with yet another mid-range smartphone that we already reported on a few days ago. The Iris 406Q was spotted at Flipkart earlier this week, but the device was not in stock and no details on its price were available at that time.

However, we assumed that Lava Iris 406Q would go on sale in the coming days and our assumption proved accurate, as Flipkart has just kicked off sales for the budget-friendly smartphone.

According to AndroidOS, Lava Iris 406Q can be purchased via Flipkart for only Rs 6,999 ($115 / €85) outright. The price is decent for a dual-SIM smartphone powered by Jelly Bean and it’s even greater for a KitKat device.

While Lava Iris 406Q is powered by Android 4.3 Jelly Bean operating system out of the box, the company’s officials have promised that the smartphone will eventually be upgraded to Android 4.4.2 KitKat.

Unfortunately, no additional details on the availability and timing for the KitKat update have been unveiled by Lava, so we can only hope that the company’s promise will come true in the not so distant future.

Back to the Lava Iris 406Q, the smartphone offers quite decent features for its price. First of all, Android fans in India will be pleased to know that the device offers dual-SIM (3G / 2G) support with Dual Standby.

It also comes equipped with a powerful 1.2GHz quad-core processor, which, surprisingly is not provided by MediaTek. Lava Iris 406Q packs a Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 CPU, an Adreno 302 graphic processing unit, 1GB of RAM and 4GB of internal memory.

Obviously, only a little above 2GB of internal memory is available for users, but thanks to the included microSD card slot, you will be able to further expand storage up to 32GB.

The smartphone sports a 4-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display that supports 480 x 800 pixels resolution, and packs a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera with fixed focus, LED flash and video recording.

Lava Iris 406Q is powered by a 1700 mAh battery and offers a wide range of connectivity options, including 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and microUSB.

“At Lava, we are committed to constantly strive to innovate and develop great value for our consumers. In line with this commitment, we have introduced Iris 406Q, an extremely powerful device with best features in its category. The Iris 406Q is designed to enable consumers enjoy an incredibly smooth experience on the go,” said Hari Om Rai, chairman and managing director, Lava International.
