14 DAY TRIAL // The dual-SIM Lava Iris 404e leaked online a few days ago and we thought the Indian OEM would put the smartphone on sale within the next few weeks, but it looks like the device went on sale much earlier.
Android fans and enthusiasts wishing for a cheap, reliable smartphone may want to give the Lava Iris 404e a try. The handset is now available for purchase at various Indian retailers for as low as Rs 3,829 ($61 / €45) outright.
Along with the Iris 404e, Lava Mobiles has released another budget-friendly Android smartphone, the Iris 408e. The latter is now available for purchase for only Rs 4,999 ($80 / €59) off contract.
As AndroidOS points out, both Lava Iris handsets offer dual-SIM support, but they ship with different versions of Android. The Iris 404e is powered by Android 4.2 Jelly Bean operating system out of the box, whereas the Iris 408e runs an old Android 2.3 Gingerbread platform.
That’s rather odd considering that the Iris 404e is much cheaper than the Iris 408e, and also comes with better features. Thus, Lava Iris 404e sports a 4-inch WVGA capacitive touchscreen display that supports 480 x 800 pixels resolution.
It also comes equipped with a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 256MB of RAM and 1GB of internal memory, which can be further expanded up to 32GB via microSD memory card.
Other highlights of the Lava Iris 404e include: 2-megapixel rear-facing camera, secondary VGA camera, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, FM Radio and 1400 mAh battery.
Lava Iris 408e features a similar 4-inch WVGA capacitive touchscreen display with 480 x 800 pixels resolution and packs dual cameras (3-megapixel main camera and VGA front-facing camera).
On the inside, the smartphone features 256MB of RAM and 512MB of storage that can be expanded up to 32GB via microSD memory card.
It also provides users with EDGE, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, as well as FM Radio, 3.5mm audio jack and 1500 mAh battery, which has yet to be rated by the manufacturer.
