The smartphone is only available for purchase via major retailer Snapdeal

Good news for Karbonn fans, as the Indian OEM has silently released a new mid-range Android smartphone that could be a great alternative to those expensive handsets launched by Samsung, LG and HTC.

The so-called Karbonn Titanium S9 Lite is the slightly downgraded version of the Titanium S9, which was released in India last month and which is one of the most popular Android smartphones launched by the Indian OEM.

Given the fact that it’s a slightly weaker version of the Titanium S9, it’s pretty obvious that the Lite model is available for purchase for much less.

The only major retailer that is now offering the Karbonn Titanium S9 Lite is Snapdeal, but other authorized resellers might start stocking the smartphone as well.

Anyway, those who wish to grab it can do so via Snapdeal for Rs 8,990 outright, which is about $150 or €110. Potential customers may want to know that the Indian retailer states that all orders are dispatched in 5 business days, which means that it might take around 1 week for the Titanium S9 Lite to arrive.

Talking about specs, Karbonn Titanium S9 Lite is just another mid-range smartphone and surely doesn’t offer anything that would make it stand out.

Aside from the fact that it packs a large 5.5-inch qHD (540 x 960 pixels) capacitive touchscreen display, Karbonn’s smartphone is mediocre in all aspects.

There’s one thing though that might stop you from buying the Karbonn Titanium S9 Lite, and that’s the fact that is comes with only 512MB of RAM.

There are several other alternatives in the same price range that come with 1GB of RAM, so Karbonn’s mid-range smartphone might not prove to be so popular after all.

If you can get past this, you will get a 1.3GHz quad-core processor, 4GB of internal memory and microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB).

On the back, Karbonn Titanium S9 Lite packs an enhanced 8-megapixel photo snapper with LED flash, autofocus and full HD (1080p) video recording, while in the front, there’s a secondary 2-megapixel camera for video calls.

Another downside would be the fact that it ships with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean operating system out of the box, which is a bit old even for a mid-range smartphone.

Karbonn Titanium S9 Lite offers dual-SIM capability, along with a wide range of connectivity options, including 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, microUSB and GPS with A-GPS support. The smartphone is powered by a 2100 mAh battery and comes with a free flip cover in the sale package.
