14 DAY TRIAL // Indian OEM Karbonn and major retailer Flipkart recently announced the upcoming availability of three new affordable Android smartphones that will go on sale in the next couple of days.
Karbonn Smart A52+, A12 Star, and A11 Star will be exclusively available via Flipkart for Rs 3,099 ($50 / €40), Rs 4,099 ($70 / €50), and Rs 4,499 ($75 / €55), respectively. According to fonearena, all three smartphones will be offered in both black and white color options.
The cheapest of the three, Karbonn Smart A52+, will ship with Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean operating system out of the box and is likely to remain on this version of the platform until it gets discontinued.
The Smart A52+ sports a 3.5-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports 480 x 320 pixels resolution. It also packs a 2-megapixel rear-facing camera and a secondary VGA camera in the front for selfies.
The smartphone does not come with 3G support, so users will be limited to EDGE connectivity for Internet browsing. On the positive side, the Smart A52+ offers dual-SIM capability with dual standby support.
It’s also worth mentioning that the entry-level handset is equipped with a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, which is complemented by 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal memory. There’s also a microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB).

In this digital age, we believe every Indian should have access to a smartphone. These Karbonn phones that have been made exclusively for Flipkart customers are a step in that direction,” said Kalyan Krishnamurthy, SVP – Retail at Flipkart.
The other two smartphones launched by Karbonn, A11 and A12 Star, will ship with Android 4.4.2 KitKat platform onboard, hence the slightly higher price.
On the inside, they are equipped with the same 1.2GHz dual-core processor, accompanied by 512MB of RAM and 4GB of storage, which can be further expanded up to 32GB via microSD card slot.
However, Karbonn A11 and A12 Star sport slightly larger displays than the A52+. For example, the former packs a 4-inch display, while the latter comes with a 4.3-inch capacitive touchscreen, both of which support 480 x 800 pixels resolution.
Furthermore, these budget-friendly handsets also come with dual cameras (5-megapixel main camera on the back and VGA front-facing camera) and 3G connectivity.
Last but not least, just like the Smart A52+, Karbonn A11 and A12 Star will offer dual-SIM capability with dual standby support, along with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS with A-GPS.
