Intex is about to launch yet another budget-friendly smartphone on the Indian market, the Aqua i3. Unlike the previous models announced by Intex such as Aqua i14 and Aqua N15, the new handset offers entry-level features, hence the much lower price.

Before reading further, you should know that the Aqua i3 is not yet available for purchase in India, but the smartphone has been recently listed on Intex’s official website, which means that it shouldn’t take too long until it goes on sale.

Those interested in grabbing this entry-level smartphone will be able to do so for only Rs 3,555 ($60 / €45), Indian blog Gogi reports. The smartphone will be available on the market in three color options: Blue, Black and White.

You may see a different price on the website (Rs 6,570), but that seems to be a mistake from the OEM’s part. Otherwise, we can’t explain the fairly high price for a smartphone that offers only low features in terms of hardware and software.

First of all, Intex Aqua i3 will ship with Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean operating system out of the box, which is rather old even for an entry-level smartphone.

The device also comes pre-loaded with lots of apps, such as: Intex Zone, Matrabhasha, Opera Mini, Intex Games Club, NQ SECURITY, NQ Vault, ZAPAK, Bigflix, OLX, Getit, GreetZap, Intex Care, Saavn, Hungama, Sony Liv, Newshunt, Clik it, Mobogenie and WeChat.

However, the good news is that the Aqua i3 boasts an impressive 8-megapixel photo snapper on the back, which features autofocus, LED flash and video recording. There’s also a secondary 2-megapixel camera in the front for video calls and selfies.

Unfortunately, Intex Aqua i3 is equipped with a 1GHz single-core MediaTek MT6572 processor, which is complemented by 512MB of RAM and 4GB of RAM. Luckily, users will be able to further expand storage up to 32GB via microSD card slot.

On the positive side, the entry-level smartphone sports a quite decent 5-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display that supports 480 x 854 pixels resolution.

Connectivity-wise, Intex’s handset offers dual-SIM capability with dual standby support, as well as 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, microUSB and GPS with A-GPS.

Last but not least, Intex Aqua i3 is powered by a 1800 mAh battery, which should provide users with up to 250 hours of standby time or up to 6 hours of talk time. Will you be picking the Intex Aqua i3 when it goes on sale in the coming days?
