As expected, HTC has officially announced its flagship Android smartphone, HTC One, in India. Once again, the Taiwanese company has disregarded any respect for Indian consumers and has overpriced the handset to a point where it’s likely to have extremely low sales.

According to the official press release, HTC One will be available in Glacial Silver and Stealth Black color options at no less than Rs 53,590 outright, which is about $820 or €625.

The good news is that HTC has released the dual-SIM version of One in India, which is probably what Indian customers will be interested in most, given the phone’s high price.

Unlike the standard HTC One model, the dual-SIM version comes with a removable battery hood, so users will be able to switch SIMs. In addition, dual-SIM HTC One supports both CDMA and UMTS networks.

In order to make HTC One more attractive in India, the Taiwanese handset maker has tied up with Indian carrier Tata Docomo to provide customers with special offers. No details have been unveiled yet, but as part of this partnership, Tata Docomo will launch special offers for both Prepay and Postpay customers.

It is also worth mentioning that the dual-SIM HTC One that is now available for purchase in India has been confirmed to feature microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 64GB).

The phone will ship with Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean operating system out of the box, but will receive an Android 4.3 upgrade in the coming months.

HTC One boasts a large 4.7-inch Super LCD3 capacitive touchscreen display that supports full HD (1080 x 1920 pixels) resolutions and features Corning Gorilla Glass 3 coating.

There’s also a 4-UltraPixel camera on the back, which features autofocus, LED flash and full HD (1080p) video recording, as well as a secondary 2.1-megapixel front-facing camera for video calls.

Last but not least, the smartphone is powered by a 1.7-inch quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor, which is accompanied by an Adreno 320 GPU and 2GB of RAM.
