Today, Taiwanese mobile phone maker HTC Corporation has made its newly unveiled HTC Desire 700 smartphone official in India.

The handset was announced with a price tag of Rs. 33,050 ($540 / €393) attached to it, and it should land on shelves in the country sometime around Christmas.

Made official only a few weeks ago, the new HTC Desire 700 will provide users in India with the possibility to place two SIM cards inside it at the same time, and to have them both active simultaneously.

The smartphone was launched with a 5-inch touchscreen display capable of delivering a qHD resolution, and it is powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core Spreadtrum Shark processor.

The new mobile phone also features 1GB of RAM inside, along with 8GB of internal memory and a microSD memory card slot for expansion purposes.

Furthermore, the handset arrives on shelves in India with Wi-Fi a/b/g/n and Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity, as well as with built-in GPS receiver, and with the usual set of sensors on the front.

HTC Desire 700 packs an 8-megapixel camera on the back, with LED flash and support for full HD video recording, along with a 2MP front camera, which should enable users to enjoy video chatting while on the go.

The new device is powered by a 2100 mAh battery, while running under Google’s Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system, with the Sense 5.0 user interface loaded on top.

Overall, the new Desire 700 will prove to be an appealing mid-range device when made available for purchase, though its price tag might not attract users as much, given that there are similarly specced phones up for grabs for much less.

According to a recent article on AndroidOS, users in India will be able to purchase the new HTC Desire 700 through a variety of retailers in the country. Stay tuned to learn more on the availability of this mobile phone.
