HTC has quietly introduced a new budget-friendly Android smarpthone, the Desire 400. The main selling point of the phone is the fact that it offers dual-SIM support.

Another advantage of the Desire 400 is that it got released in Europe where dual-SIM smartphones are very rare, especially those made by important brands such as Samsung, LG and HTC.

As GSMArena points out, the dual-SIM Desire 400 recently appeared on HTC official websites in Russia and Ukraine, though each site lists slightly different specs sheets for the handset.

According to HTC Russia, the Desire 400 sports a decent 4.3-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports 480 x 800 pixels resolution. The same kind of display is listed on the Ukrainian website as well.

However, while the Russian website claims the HTC Desire 400 is equipped with a 1.2 GHz quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 processor clocked at 1.2 GHz, the HC Ukraine says the device only packs a dual-core CPU clocked at 1.2 GHz.

Moreover, the dual-SIM HTC Desire 400 should boast an enhanced 8-megapixel rear-facing camera with autofocus, LED flash and HD (720p) video recording, as well as 1.6-megapixel secondary camera, but the Ukrainian HTC website only confirms a 5-megapixel photo snapper on the back and a VGA front-facing camera for video calls.

The good news is both HTC websites confirm the Desire 400 features 1GB of RAM, 4GB of internal memory and microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 64GB).

Unfortunately, there's no telling what version of Android the Desire 400 runs, but more details on the smarpthone will probably emerge in the not so distant future.

Connectivity-wise, the smartphone offers the standard set of options, including HSDPA and HSUPA, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, as well as GPS with A-GPD and microUSB.

Last but not least, HTC Desire 400 is powered by a 1,800 mAh Li-Ion battery that should provide up to 12 hours of talking in 3G mode.

HTC Desire 400 is expected to go on sale in Europe within the next few weeks for a price that will be disclosed closer to launch. Stay tuned for more updates on the matter.
