Chinese company Gionee is about to release the sequel to the Pioneer P3 in India. Gionee Pioneer P4 is now available for purchase in India via eBay for only Rs 9,199 ($150 / €110) outright.

However, as AndroidOS points out, the smartphone should go on sale at other major retailers across the country in the coming days. Gionee Pioneer P4 is a mid-range Android smartphone, so don’t expect any out of the ordinary features to be included in this device.

Still, customers in India will definitely want to take this one into consideration given its rather low price in comparison with what it has to offer.

First of all, it offers dual-SIM (WCDMA / GSM) capability, which was to be expected from a mid-range device getting released in India. Customers in India seem to be overwhelmed by the huge number of budget-friendly smartphones and there’s one thing they all have in common and that’s dual-SIM support.

Another common trait for all mid-range smartphones launched in India in the last couple of months is the fact that they all come with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean operating system out of the box.

Obviously, no Indian OEM offers updates from Android 4.2 to newer versions, so those who purchase these smartphones will be stuck on that OS until they switch to a new one.

Hardware-wise, the Pioneer P4 is not bad at all. It comes equipped with a 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek processor, 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal memory.

The smartphone also packs microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB), as well as a decent 5-megapixel rear-facing camera with autofocus, LED flash and video recording.

Gionee Pioneer P4 also sports a 4.5-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display that supports 480 x 854 pixels resolution. It also includes a 2-megapixel front-facing camera for video calls.

The smartphone is powered by a 1800 mAh battery and offers a wide range of connectivity options, including 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, microUSB and GPS with A-GPS support.

Android enthusiasts interested in acquiring this budget-friendly smartphone should know that Gionee Pioneer P4 will be available in both white and black color options.

For those who already own the Pioneer P3, the P4 won’t be too much of an upgrade. The former comes with only 512MB of RAM, 1700 mAh battery and 4.5-inch display that supports 480 x 800 pixels resolution. The rest of the specs are similar to those of the new Pioneer P4 smartphone.
