BLU Products, a newcomer on the one Android smartphone market, has just announced the immediate availability of two of its handsets, the BLU Tank 4.5 and Studio 5.3 II.

Both smartphones are now available for purchase in the United States for only $199/€150 outright. The handsets ship with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system out of the box and they’re available via leading online retailers in the US.

BLU Tank 4.5 is powered by a 1GHz dual-core Cortex -A9 processor, which is complemented by a PowerVR SGX Series 5 graphics processing unit and 4GB of internal memory that can be further expanded up to 32GB via microSD memory card.

It sports a 4.5-inch IPS qHD display that supports 540 x 960 pixels resolution (245 ppi) and a 5-megapixel rear camera with autofocus, LED flash and video recording.

The handset features IP67 certification, which means it is dust and sand proof, as well as water resistant to a depth of one meter for up to 30 minutes.

BLU Studio 5.3 II comes with a slightly larger 5.3 inch IPS qHD capacitive touchscreen display (208 ppi) and a much better 8-megapixel photo snapper with autofocus, dual-LED flash and HD (720p) video recording.

The smartphone embeds 4GB of internal memory expandable to 32GB via microSD memory card and drains energy from a 2200 mAh Li-Ion battery, which has yet to be rated by the manufacturer. It is also worth mentioning that both BLU smartphones offer dual-SIM capability.

“BLU Products maintains our determination and promise to continue developing worthwhile smartphone devices available unlocked, and contract-free to consumers in the US, at affordable pricing.

“We have achieved that in releasing two remarkable new devices, both at sub $200 retail pricing, with the latest technology, high-end performance and incredible build quality our customers can be proud of,” said Samuel Ohev-Zion, CEO of BLU Products.
