14 DAY TRIAL // Today, wireless carrier Orange UK and mobile phone maker Motorola Mobility announced officially the launch of Motorola ATRIX on the local market, a dual-core smartphone that runs under Google's Android operating system.
The new device is set to offer impressive levels of performance when made available for purchase at Orange in the second quarter of the ongoing year, courtesy of its processor that has each core running at 1 GHz, which was complemented by 1 GB of RAM.
According to Motorola, the new ATRIX can easily prove the most powerful smartphone available on the market at the moment, with support for Adobe Flash Player with the full Mozilla Firefox 3.6 browser in the new Motorola webtop application that was preloaded with it.
“We want to empower individuals, giving them new ways to stay connected, informed and entertained at home, on the job and anywhere in between,” said Andrew Morley, vice president of marketing for Motorola Mobility, EMARA.
“Motorola ATRIX ushers in a new era in mobile computing and has the power to deliver on its promise to empower individuals as it comes loaded with the Motorola webtop application, which enables consumers to enhance the capabilities of their smartphones and simultaneously reduce their need for additional mobile computing screens.”
Motorola ATRIX was designed to offer users fast access to the creation, editing and viewing of documents and multimedia content, Motorola announced.
Motorola’s webtop application is one step taken on this road, while the optional Motorola HD Multimedia Dock and Motorola Laptop Dock would offer a larger screen, keyboard and trackpad for a better experience on their devices.
In webtop, users would be able to access smartphone;s features through a special window, Motorola explains. Other features include the possibility to continue a call even when the handset is removed from a dock, or the Entertainment Centre through which one can view photos, music and videos on a big screen.

The specs list of the new device includes a qHD display, 48GB of storage (16GB internal and optional 32GB MicroSD card), front- and rear-facing cameras, HD video recording capabilities, 3G Mobile Hotspot, a 1930 mAh battery, and more.
