Mobile phone carrier Verizon Wireless is reportedly gearing up for some welcomed changes in its lineup of Android-based devices, and the launch of some new Motorola handsets could be just the thing.

Among them, we should expect for the company to release a DROID X2 smartphone, with a dual-core processor inside, apparently, which would be the direct successor of last year's DROID X.

We already had the chance to take a look at the upcoming mobile phone, which was spotted in leaked photos and documents from the wireless carrier, and we can see it once again in the video embedded below.

The phone was filmed while booting up, something that is done fast enough to determine enthusiasts say that its dual-core application processor is the one to thank for that.

According to the rumor, the upcoming mobile phone should land on shelves at Verizon Wireless with an Nvidia Tegra 2 chip inside, the same as the company's XOOM tablet PC, or the already available ATRIX 4G smartphone do.

For the time being, however, nothing is official on this, nor on the existence of DROID X2, for that matter, but more might emerge soon, since the handset is expected to be released in the coming months.

Until addition info on it emerges, we should note that another device that should soon arrive at Verizon from Motorola, the DROID Bionic, is rumored to have been canceled.

Two different sources suggest that, while also pointing at the fact that the handset would be replaced with the previously spotted Targa.

For those out of the loop, we should note that the DROID Bionic was unveiled in early 2011 as Motorola's 4G LTE-capable Android smartphone for Verizon.

Nothing was confirmed on this until now, and we'll take the info on DROID Bionic's cacelation with a grain of salt for the moment, especially since there are some who claim that the device is actually nearing its release date. Stay tuned for more.
