Even though it was revealed some time ago, Acer's dual-boot netbook has only now become official, having started to ship in Europe, where it plans to entrance end-users with its dual-core CPU and the availability of both Windows and Android.

When it was first unveiled, the Acer Aspire One Happy netbook turned quite a few heads through the fact that it has both good hardware, as far as netbook hardware goes at least, and two operating systems instead of just one.

The two operating systems in question are Windows 7 Starter and Android, both pre-loaded on the device, the first for its functionality and the latter for its boot speed and low resource needs.

As far as physical parts go, the machine is built around the Intel Atom N550, Intel's more recent chip that belongs to the Pine Trail platform.

The Atom N550 is a dual-core model with a frequency of 1.5 GHz, although the 1.66 GHz Atom N450 single-core CPU is also available as an option.

Whichever CPU is selected is paired with the GMA (Graphics Media Accelerator) integrated graphics and complemented by 2 GB of RAM.

There is also a hard disk drive with an internal capacity of 250 GB, as well as the obligatory connectivity and I/O options.

The list includes WiFi, 10/100 LAN, Bluetooth 3.0, a Crystal Eye webcam and optional 3G.

All of these parts and chips are kept operational by a battery that can last for up to 8 hours and their prowess can be enjoyed thanks to the 10.1-inch screen.

The display is a LED-backlit LCD (liquid crystal display) with a native resolution of 1,024 x 600 pixels.

According to Notebook Italia, the mobile PC is now selling for £250 (350 Euro) in multiple color options, such as Candy pink, Lime Green, Hawaii Blue and Lavender Purple.
