The woman was leaving one bar and trying to get to another, ended up in a jail's parking lot instead

This past weekend, a woman in the US was arrested after getting so drunk that, while attempting to leave one bar and head for another, she mistakenly drove herself to a jail and even stopped her car in the facility's parking lot.

Apparently, it was a policeman who spotted the woman walking around her vehicle, looking totally confused, and who realized that, although not intentionally, her driving skills had brought her to the best possible place for her at that time.

A drive she probably doesn't remember

As mentioned, the incident occurred this past weekend. More precisely, it was on Sunday that the 39-year-old woman went driving around Michigan after first indulging in one too many sips of alcoholic beverages at a local bar.

Mind you, this drunk driver, whose identity has not yet been shared with the public, wasn't just aimlessly exploring the state's roads and highways. On the contrary, she was trying to locate a bar other than the one where she had enjoyed her way-too-happy hour and pick up her boyfriend.

While on this quest, the woman mistook a local jail in the village of Paw Paw in Michigan for the bar where her boyfriend was waiting for her. Hence, she approached the facility, and even pulled into its parking lot, Daily Mail informs.

Little did she know that she would find Deputy Robert Miersma and not her boyfriend waiting for her. What's more, she was probably oblivious to the fact that this 2 a.m. unplanned encounter with the police officer would land her in serious trouble with the law.

At the time Deputy Robert Miersma chanced to cross paths with the drunk woman, her blood alcohol level was one of 0.17%. That was more than twice Michigan's current legal limit, which is one of 0.8%.

What happened to the woman?

After her blood alcohol level was found to exceed the legal limit in Michigan, she was taken into police custody. She was put in a cell at the Van Buren County Jail, where she will likely remain for at least a few more days.

It is understood that, regardless of whether or not she will be released from prison sometime later this week, the woman will still have to answer in front of a court of law for her actions. As far as her boyfriend is concerned, one can only hope he is not still waiting for her to come pick him up.
