John Howlett allegedly woke up, from a night of drinking and substance abuse, surrounded by white wedding dresses with no recollection of the way the gowns appeared in his house. In order to confront him with his acts, officers showed John a CCTV footage capturing him in the act.

The 36-year-old heroin addict went on a bridal gowns stealing spree, managing to grab $8,200 (€6,000) worth of dresses in a late night burglary at a local boutique.

The man claimed he had no memory of the event even though he managed to carry the dresses all the way to his house and fall asleep on top of them.

Police officers pulled out the CCTV footage that showed the man breaking in Victoria's Bridal store and then struggling to carry the dresses on the street.

Under the cover of the night, the drunk thief stumbles under the weight of the gowns but still manages to hold on to all of them for a mile and a half until he reached his home.

When Howlett woke up in the morning on top of the white gowns, he panicked and stuffed the dresses under the stairs of his home.

Police officers identified him from the footage and tracked him down to his house in Swansea, South Wales.

When faced with the footage from the CCTV, John admitted to taking the dresses from Victoria's Bridal on a drunken spree.

His probation officer told the court that “he had been drinking and woke up surrounded by wedding dresses. He says he cannot remember anything about the burglary,” notes Daily Mail.

The father-of-one was arrested and sent to court, where he was granted bail but was given a night curfew and a warning to stay away from Swansea shops.

Back in November, the drunk bridal gowns thief was previously accused and also pleaded guilty to a burglary, and fraud after he wrote blank cheques to pay gambling debt.
