David Hasselhoff has reportedly been clean and sober for many a month – at least, that’s the official story. According to several tabloid reports, he’s actually drinking heavily again and, as usual, such behavior sends him straight to the hospital bed. The former “Baywatch” star had to be rushed to the emergency room again the other day, after a bender that made him aggressive towards a doctor and his staff, The Sun reports.

The actor is currently in London, where he was invited to attend the A-list-studded party of X Factor and American Idol judge Simon Cowell. The Hoff, as he’s often referred to in the media, can’t handle his booze and, sources say, he simply couldn’t stop drinking once he got started at Cowell’s party. Eventually, hotel staff got so worried when they saw he wasn’t coming down at all but only ordering alcohol up, they called a doctor – who got punched in the head by the out-of-control star.

“The medic was called in by the actor’s assistant after Hoff, 57, had been drinking for days at his London hotel. Anxious staff there had feared 6ft 4in Hasselhoff was out of control. And he lashed out when he was confronted by the physician – accidentally decking Dr Paul Ettlinger. Staff at the five-star St Martins Lane Hotel manhandled the star to the basement while Ettlinger – said to have a bruised forehead – called for an ambulance.” The Sun says.

Hassselhoff was taken to the exclusive Capio Nightingale Hospital, where he was plumped with vitamins and was allowed to sleep the intoxication off, sources reveal for the tabloid. Of course, this was an easier said than done task, as a person with his reputation could not pass by unnoticed so easily, so staff at the center had first to make sure they took all the necessary measures to avoid other patients from interfering with Hasselhoff’s recovery.

“David is very hard to handle when he drinks, often very emotional and aggressive. On this occasion he became so drunk he wet his hotel bed – ruining two mattresses – and was becoming a real pain for staff. His assistant Joe Townley was so concerned he called out a doctor. David was furious and lashed out at him – but mistakenly hit the doctor. They decided they had no option but to lock him in the basement until an ambulance arrived.” an unnamed source explains for The Sun the details of the recent trip to the hospital.
