We've seen some strange things over the past decade, so we can safely say that it takes a lot of weird to bemuse us at this point. Alec Smecher managed it though.

A drummer for The Elixxirs, the man turned a drum kit into an input device which translates drum stick bashes into PC characters.

That way, he can practice drumming and write e-mails to his fans at the same time.

And it all took a digital drum set, a MIDI to USB adapter and some software coding.

Alec Smecher gave its invention the name MIDI Drum Keyboard and intends to spend some time exploiting his typing dexterity for better drumming performance.

Obviously, this concept isn't going to fly with more than a handful of people in the world. Then again, Smecher doesn't mind, as long as it works for him.
