Nick Carter and Paris Hilton dated for about 7 months between 2003 and 2004 but, since they broke up, they’ve hardly spared a nice word for each other. In his upcoming memoir, Carter brands her the worst possible influence in his life.

Carter has a long history with drug and alcohol abuse, even saying in an old interview that he abused them so much he came very close to dying.

When he went to rehab for the last time, he knew he had no other option than to kick the addiction. Since 2009, he’s been completely clean and sober.

Radar Online obtained excerpts of his upcoming memoir, “Facing the Music and Living to Talk About It,” which will be coming out soon and, of course, a large chunk of it is dedicated to his 10-year struggle with addiction.

He says dating Paris Hilton at the time was the worst thing possible because she encouraged the worst in him.

“Paris was the worst person in the world for me to hook up with [because she] fed my worst impulses as far as partying,” Nick writes.

Looking back, he’s surprised he made it out alive.

“I could’ve ended up a tragedy. During the height of my problems, I did Ecstasy, cocaine and drank a large bottle of vodka a night,” he continues.

He regrets taking so much Ecstasy now, saying that, “the amount I did caused changes to my brain that are responsible for my bouts of depression now.”

Carter and Hilton’s romance was as mediated as it was controversial. After they split, there were serious allegations of domestic violence, with the socialite photographed with a bruised eye and lip, and countless bruises on her arms just the day after they split.

She never accused him openly of being physically violent, but the signs were all there for people to draw conclusions based on them. Nick issued a statement shortly after to say that he “did not touch her.”
