Dropship: United Peace Force is a videogame developed by Sony Computer Entertainment Europe Studio Camden and published by Sony Computer Entertainment. The game was only released for the PlayStation 2 console from Sony in January 2002. It can be described as an action adventure title that can be played from either a first person or third person perspective and has some influences from the genres of tank combat, flight sim and sci fi games.
Dropship: United Peace Force is set in the year 2050. The world has been threatened for quite some time by terrorist attacks. The response from the developed world is to create the UPF, which stands for United Peace Force and replaces both NATO and the UN. Its powers are great and its jurisdiction is world wide. The UPF tracks the source of the attacks to a drug syndicate that spends its massive wealth on weapons.
The main campaign of the game puts players in the combat boots of a newly recruited soldier for the UPF that can fight both on foot and in various vehicles. The main area for combat is Libya, where the drug cartel created one of its biggest bases. There are 20 missions that the player can complete and most of them include both an airborne element and an infantry section, with the enemies sometimes outnumbering the friendly forces. The release also offers six training missions allowing the player to familiarize themselves with the way the game is controlled, especially in the sections featuring the dropship.
