Mobile phone users who own devices running under Google's Android operating system will soon have a highly-appealing software solution available for their handsets, in the form of a Dropbox Android app. The company already announced via its official blog that it was working on the building of such an application, and also offered us a glimpse at what users can expect from the software solution to include.

The highly popular web based file syncing service will soon be available on Android devices, and the app will come with a wide range of features for users, including: - Access your Dropbox on the go – All the contents of your Dropbox are available for viewing. You can even stream music and movies in your Dropbox straight to your Android device. - Make edits to your files and sync them back to Dropbox – Any changes you make to your files will sync back up to your Dropbox. - Download files for offline viewing – Add files to ‘Favorites’ and they’ll be accessible at any time. - Upload files and sync them to your Dropbox – Take a photo, shoot a video, or upload some audio from your Android phone and email its public link to a friend in less than a minute. - Share links to files in your Dropbox – Yes! Any file in your Dropbox! As most of you can see, the upcoming Dropbox Android application won't offer users only the possibility to view files directly from their mobile phones, but will also enable them to store files on the device, or chose to have them stored in the cloud. Moreover, the app also comes with support for playing multimedia content, and will sync any file in case it has been edited on the device. Not to mention that uploading or sharing files from an Android phone will be easy tasks with the new app.

Dropbox already has an application available for the users of an Apple iPhone, and some of the reports around the web suggest that a software solution for BlackBerry users might also land in the near future. For what it's worth, the upcoming application will certainly appeal a lot to Android users, especially considering the wide functionality it will arrive with. And since the company says that it will arrive in the following months, we should sit tight and wait for more details to emerge. You can check on additional shots with the upcoming solution here.
