"Dropbox - there's an app for that"

Those using Evenflow’s Dropbox service who also own an iPhone / iPod touch, must have waited for the mobile client like the second coming, or something. Yes, Dropbox for iPhone has arrived. Newcomers should note that the app works with the main Dropbox service and is not intended as a standalone product. Those who don’t have a Dropbox account already will be guided by the app into registering and creating a free, 2GB Dropbox account.

“Dropbox is the easiest way to sync your files online and across computers, and share them with people,” Evenflow says. The developer lists key features such as the ability to access your Dropbox on the go, view your files (including PDFs), download files for offline viewing (favorites feature), the ability to take photos and videos and sync them to your Dropbox, sharing links to files in your Dropbox (via email), photo galleries, and the ability to sync downloaded files so they’re up-to-date.

A while ago, Softpedia was happy to report that the Dropbox development team had announced good progress as far as the iPhone version was concerned. Evenflow had submitted the app for approval and “got to play the waiting game,” according to an official post on the Dropbox blog. “Since all of you have been playing the waiting game for far longer than we have (and secrets, secrets are no fun), we’ve decided to give you a sneak peek at some of the features our app will be packing once our benevolent masters at Apple approve it,” the post added (read more here).

The main Dropbox service offers accounts for up to 100GB of storage, which syncs files across all your computers (Windows, Mac OS X or Linux), securely backs up your files online, and lets you access your files from anywhere via a web interface.
