A new beta version of the official Dropbox client for Blackberry smartphones has been released into the wild, bring a series of fixes to the application, as well as some enhancements.

This is the fifth beta flavor of Dropbox for BlackBerry, and has been developed by the company behind the popular online file storage and sharing service.

According to the development team, the new version of Dropbox for BlackBerry beta comes with a series of fixes for various bugs with the BlackBerry 6 OS user interface.

Moreover, the solution brings forth support for wma, flac, ogg, aac, 3gpp file formats for handsets that include support for them, and also resolves some issues related to sharing.

According to the release notes for the new Dropbox for BlackBerry beta 5, the release includes the following as well: - temporary workaround for picture uploading failure on 6.0 (for now, pictures over 700KB are going to get scaled down when uploaded. We're working on this) - more fixes for connectivity over BIS, BES

While these improvements are there to make users happy, it seems that some issues with the new release were spotted too, and that those interested in downloading and installing it should keep them in mind.

Thus, the changelog shows the following known issues: - streaming will fail over BIS, BES - uploading files over 1MB will fail. Over BIS, BES, the limit may be even smaller (512KB) - downloads of files over 512KB will fail on BIS, BES

Keep in mind that this is only a beta version of the application, and that future releases, as well as the final version, should fix more issues, while being able to enhance the experience users receive from the solution.

The new Dropbox for BlackBerry beta version comes along with an additional 1000 beta testers slots opened by the company. More info on how to register for it can be found here.

Owners of BlackBerry devices running under OS 4.5 or higher should be able to download the new Dropbox for BlackBerry Beta 5 from Softpedia too, via this link.
