Dropbox became available for mobile phones powered by Google's Android operating system a couple of weeks ago in a beta flavor, and a newer build of the solution is now available for download. The development team is hard at work with enhancing the experience it offers to users, while also being focused on integrating the solution with the Android platform.

The Dropbox for Android application comes with file-sharing and synchronization options, while including similar features as the already available iPhone application. The Android client of Dropbox just reached build 0.9.8.2 and now comes with some more features than before, as well as with a series of bug-fixes. The new flavor has been released into the wild only a few hours ago.

“We have a lot more improvements and new features coming down the pipeline, but wanted to get this out to you before we release it to the Market,” a recent post on the DropBox forums reads. As for the new features the Dropbox for Android build 0.9.8.2 includes, we can count the reworked menus that make the importing and creation of new items much clearer (Added 'Upload Any File' and 'New Folder' options).

New option menus have been included in the package for long-hold of a file, such as the possibility to Delete files, to Download files to local cache without viewing them, or the option to share to other apps (video to YouTube, images to Picasa/Flickr). A series of file-type fixes have been included in the solution, with AMR audio files now playing as they should, and with .url files opened in the web browser with the embedded link.

Other novelties Dropbox for Android build 0.9.8.2 comes with include: - DropText now lets you create a new text file. Also preserves Unix/Windows line endings (new files are created with Unix line endings). Landscape mode works properly. - Misc caching and downloading bug-fixes - Uploads new changes properly for Keepass and Docs To Go edits, as well as many other apps.
