A new version of the Dropbox for Android mobile client has been just made available for download, namely build 1.0.9.4, which comes as a beta flavor, as the development team advances towards the release of Dropbox for Android 1.1.

The new Android forum build 1.0.9.4 follows shortly after the release of version 1.0.9.3 into the wild, and was meant to fix some issues that emerged with that flavor of the mobile client.

“We've fixed some issues and fine tuned some translations and layouts since version 1.0.9.3. Please update and try out the latest version,” a recent post on the Dropbox forum reads.

The release notes for the new Dropbox for Android 1.0.9.4 includes: - Better passcode locking when inactive or leaving app - Updated international translations - Fixed some file syncing and upload bugs

As stated above, the new version of the mobile application was made available as part of the company's work towards the release of the upcoming 1.1 version, which should make it to the Android Market soon.

There are a nice range of new features included into the mix, and native speakers of Spanish, French, German, or Japanese would certainly enjoy them, since the application was update with support for these languages.

In addition to internationalization (French, Spanish, German, Japanese), the new release also comes with a series of fixes aimed at tablet PCs running under Google's Android 3.0 (Honeycomb) operating system, as well as with a series of other enhancements.

Many of these were added in the aforementioned version 1.0.9.3. The changelog included:

- Lock Code now protects your Dropbox from prying eyes. - Better checking for file modifications before uploading - Improved character set support - Displays error message when SD card is full - Dropbox service no longer starts up on all network changes - Dropbox no longer lists itself as an app it can share data to - Removed permission to read phone state and identity, since it's no longer needed. - Added permission to prevent phone from sleeping, so uploads & downloads finish when your screen turns off. - Mobile Tour gives an overview of Dropbox features on first login.
