'It just works!'

For the folks who prayed that one day, someone, somewhere, would release a piece of software that would seamlessly copy files to the web for sharing, without having to use a FTP client, developer Evenflow Inc. has come to the rescue. Beta accounts of Dropbox allow 2GB of storage. You simply drag items into your Dropbox directory in Finder and, within seconds, they're up on the Evenflow server. Each change is synced automatically! Too good to be true? Read on.

You will need an invite to use Dropbox, as it is still in beta. But you can click HERE to start downloading the software and then HERE to apply for the beta. You will be asked for your e-mail address so the guys at Evenflow can send you a passkey.

Since Dropbox works on both Windows PC and Mac OS X, you can, for example, install the software on both systems, add some files to the Dropbox directory on one computer, and then access Dropbox on the other computer to reveal those files within seconds. This works because, as soon as you start making changes, Dropbox automatically syncs them, unlike similar programs (Evernote), that require the user to do it manually.

Also, if you access a synced file and perform a change, as soon as you hit save from within the app used to make the changes, the syncing begins automatically. For those who are in the habit of emailing stuff to themselves from work to home, or vice-versa (like myself), Dropbox is a much better solution, especially when you later realize that one or more emails need to be re-sent, to reflect the changes that have occurred in the meantime.

Best of all, there's no complicated interface to learn. Dropbox seamlessly integrates into your desktop and lets you drag in as many files as you like for sharing, without having to specify certain steps or settings. The special "Public" and "Dropbox Trade Secrets" folders come in extremely handy when you want to share your files with others. As Evenflow says, "It just works!"

Be sure to check in with us this weekend for a more detailed overview of Dropbox and other cool apps.

Go ahead and try it out. As soon as you finish sharing files with your friends, don't forget to share an impression with us too.
