A new flavor of Dropbox for Android mobile application was just made available for download via the Android Market, namely version 1.0.3, which follows the release of a beta version of the software only a few days ago. As the release notes for the new version of the application show, Dropbox 1.0.3 builds on the features that were previously packed with the latest beta flavor of the application, though they got polished for Market availability.

The new release would come with a series of fixes too, meant to smoothen the experience users receive from it, as well as with improvements meant to make it work better with the latest flavor of Android, namely 2.3 Gingerbread.

The changelog for Dropbox for Android 1.0.3 includes:

Removed need for "Read sensitive log data" permissions Smaller memory footprint in directory and gallery views Fixed photo gallery bug on some 3G networks Better support for non-standard SD card locations (Incredible, Nook, Galaxy) Android 2.3 Gingerbread compatibility fixes: Support for ext4 filesystem Support for xlarge (tablet-sized) screens Improved startup time Miscellaneous stability improvements As stated above, the new version of the application was made available for download via the Android Market, and all those who would like to try it out and have access to the software portal would find it there.

However, in case there are some who can not access the Android Market, they would be able to download and install the application from Softpedia too, via this link. Just make sure you have your phone with enabled installation of apps from sources other than the Market.

Since the new iteration was made available so soon after the beta flavor, it becomes increasingly clear that Dropbox is set to offer its users the best experience possible even on their mobile phones.

The same as with other releases of the mobile application, Dropbox encourages users to provide feedback on it, so that they would offer more enhancements with future releases of the client.
