DropTask has just become even more efficient

For the last couple of days, DropTask, the online task management tool, has been going through a series of changes and updates that are slowly getting pushed out to users everywhere.

First of all, as you log in, you should notice that there’s a whole new interface to deal with here. While the app is largely the same, there are some changes as well. For instance, it will be easier to spot the method in which you can create new tasks or new groups in which you can place said tasks.

Assigning tasks is even easier now since every person you’ll add will appear in a simple box on the left vertical ribbon with his or her initials. You can then just drag and drop that individual to a certain task.

From the top of the page, you can choose the way you want to view your projects. For instance, you can check them out in groups, which is default, or as a list. You can also check out a timeline of your activities.

Each task can still be assigned a status, (not started, in progress, on hold), a due date, as well as the effort required to finish it. Some things have changed here, however. Now, you can assign an urgency to the task to help better prioritize them, which comes on top of those due dates we were mentioning.

There are now four levels of urgency, ranging from low to very high, and just as many to make a task’s importance help filter them all.

DropTask has some new features

As mentioned, the company hasn’t just revealed a new slicker user interface, but also richer prioritization features, new task cover images, and advanced level permission settings which give the user full power over what others within the project can see, edit and share.

As for the cover images, you’ll be able to make the tasks you’re working on incredibly easy to spot within your interface. All you’ll have to do is select the task you wish to add the cover to, pick the “set cover image” option, pick a file and customize it. Instead of the regular circles that appear, these prettied-up ones will have a rounded square shape.

You’ll also be able to choose who can view a project by making it private (only members will be able to see it) or public, where read-only access will be available to anyone.

The DropTask team tells Softpedia that the cover images and the member permission stages are only available for subscribers to the PRO version of the service.

The project visibility settings is a free feature, while the urgency and importance changes will be available for both free and PRO versions.

“Our brains love images as they allow us to construct meaning with virtually no effort, whereas processing text requires a significantly increased amount of energy and mental focus. With respect to productivity, this means we can now go beyond that simple list and instead explore the scope of our work to literally ‘see’ things get done,” said DropTask CEO Chris Griffiths.
