Task management tool DropTask launched its first iOS and iPad apps in December 2013. As the anniversary approaches, the company has decided to change things up a bit and offer the app for free.

“As this December marks the 1 year anniversary of their [the mobile apps] official launch, we’re kicking off celebrations by announcing that the DropTask iPad and iPhone apps are now completely free to download from the app store!” the team announced.

DropTask is a task management tool that works on multiple platforms, allowing users to move from one to another with very little trouble. It even provides offline capabilities for those users who can’t always be online, but still want to work on a project or another and update the team. As soon as there’s an Internet connection, the data gets uploaded and everything gets updated and becomes available for everyone involved to see.

As you may know, DropTask offers a visually-enticing interface that makes dealing with everyday tasks quite pleasant. Moving tasks from one project to another is extremely easy and it only involves a few drag-and-drops.

Each task can be assigned a difficulty, a deadline, individuals who need to handle it, while viewing capabilities, can be added in too. The latest updates have even brought cover images for these projects, giving the entire thing an extra edge.

“Our brains love images as they allow us to construct meaning with virtually no effort, whereas processing text requires a significantly increased amount of energy and mental focus. With respect to productivity, this means we can now go beyond that simple list and instead explore the scope of our work to literally ‘see’ things get done,” said DropTask CEO Chris Griffiths a couple of months back.

For those who want to have even more fun with DropTask, there’s a Pro version that provides additional features, such as file attachments, task dependencies and even reminders for all essential to-do tasks.

Android app is on the way

The company has also been working for some time now on an Android app, to expand the cross-platform capabilities of DropTask even more. Now, they’re announcing that the app should be delivered sometime in November, although no official timeline has been provided.

Whether it may take a while longer, it’s worth the wait considering just how many Android users are out there and how many more people will be able to deal with their workload on the go.
