Mobile phone carrier Verizon and handset vendor Motorola were expected to announce a fresh Android-based device on June 23, namely the Motorola DROID X, yet it seems that they can hardly wait to share the news with enthusiasts. The handset can already be admired on Verizon's website, next to two other high-end DROID phones available at the moment on the carrier's offering, namely the DROID by Motorola and DROID Incredible by HTC.

DROID X' near release is no longer a mystery to the world. The two companies already sent out invites to an event held on June 23, when the “next generation” of DROID devices would be unveiled, and previous rumors suggested the July (most probably July 19) would be the lucky time frame for Verizon's users. Moreover, the appearance of DROID X on Verizon's website comes shortly after the device emerged in a series of live photos.

The specifications list of the new mobile phone, or, at least, the specifications that are known, include a 4.3-inch touchscreen display that boasts an 854 x 480 pixel resolution, the same as on the original DROID handset. At the same time, the handset should land with a high-quality camera, capable of HD video capture at 720p, as well as with HDMI output capabilities, so that one can view photos or videos shot with its camera on a larger screen.

Those interested in the fresh Android-based handheld from Verizon should head over to the carrier's website here to see it. However, the official announcement on its arrival is expected to be made only on Wednesday, June 23, which means that enthusiast would still have to wait a few more days before learning all the necessary details on this beauty. Considering the info brought to light on DROID X via previous rumors, the device should not disappoint, that's for sure. Keep an eye on this space for further updates.
