Data Robotics, the makers of the successful Drobo, have just unveiled their newest creation to accompany the Drobo network attached storage unit. The DroboShare unit enables users
to share files over an already existing LAN. This is a completely new approach to spare the user the usual hassle of storing, managing and sharing their digital goodies.

Data Robotics has released its flagship product, called the Drobo, back in June 2007. It was awarded several prizes, including the "Best-in-Class" product for the year. The DroboShare completes the value and functionality of the Drobo storage server and eliminates the complexity normally associated with storage solution over the network or even with the RAID disk arrays.

"The recognition we've received by users and peers over the last eight months has been astonishing. This tells us that Drobo is truly addressing a need in the industry and we've accomplished our goal of redefining the storage experience," said Geoff Barrall, CEO and co-founder of Data Robotics. "The ability to share the Drobo over a network is the culmination of user input and shows the importance that our company places on the feedback of our customers."

DroboShare allows users to access the information stored on the Drobo file server from any computer on the network, with no restrictions regarding the operating system or the device itself. The Drobo network-attached storage device can work with any major file system, including NTFS, HFS , EXT3, and FAT32. The Drobo NAS can be disconnected from the DroboShare unit in order to be connected directly to a host computer.

The Drobo and DroboShare network-attached storage solutions are the ideal pick both for educational purposes as well as for corporate or enterprise use. They are simple, yet efficient, and there is no need to have an IT department to manage and deploy them.

Drobo and DroboShare have already hit the retailers' shelves and can be purchased for $499 (the Drobo unit) and $199 (the DroboShare, respectively).
