According to a new research, it would appear that individuals who identify themselves strongly with their cars – in the sense that they see the vehicles as an extension of their identity – are more like to break the law while on the road, and also to behave aggressively towards others.

The same study learned that drivers who are known to suffer from compulsive tendencies are also a potential danger for other people on the road, since they drive very aggressively, and with utter disregard for what may happen as a result of their actions, PsychCentral reports.

Experts at the Temple University also found that one of the leading causes for aggressive behavior and driving is the fact that people feel they are under pressure, or running late, as they drive. Daily stress can therefore have a negative influence on how people perceive their own behavior on the road.
