Evolution Studios has just confirmed the list of steering wheel peripherals that are supported by its upcoming Driveclub racing game for the PS4 platform, revealing that it's worked closely with Thrustmaster and professional pilots to make sure the game is fun and realistic with such a device.

Driveclub is the next big racing game for the PS4 platform, and after almost one year since its initial release date of November 2013, the experience is finally set to appear next month on the Sony home console from developer Evolution Studios.

Some steering wheels work with the new racing game

The company made sure to hype up the racing features for quite some time but now, as we get closer to its release, the studio has revealed some of the steering wheels that will work with the new title.

According to the announcement on the PS blog from Evolution's Jamie Brayshaw, the studio worked hard to ensure that using a steering wheel with the new game felt both fun but also realistic. As a result, it collaborated with Thrustmaster to make sure that the newer and older devices from the company worked like a charm in Driveclub.

"Our goal is to bring out the racer in everyone – so we’ve worked hard to make the driving fun and challenging for you, not only on DualShock 4 but also on all of the wheels currently compatible with PS4," he says.

"We’ve been working really closely with Thrustmaster on their new T80 & T300RS wheels, to make sure that they’re perfectly tuned for Driveclub and PS4. Who doesn’t love to lock their thumbs into a good racing wheel and get lost in the moment, believing that they’re pro drivers."

The Thrustmaster T80 and T300RS steering wheels work with Driveclub in its entirety. The Thrustmaster T500 is compatible, although the Share function isn't available while using it. Some Evo wheels are also going to work with the new game but they haven't been confirmed just yet.

Evolution worked with pilots like Sebastien Loeb

Brayshaw also mentions that Evolution went with Driveclub and the new Thrustmaster steering wheels to professional pilots, such as rally legend Sebastien Loeb or Formula 3 rising star Daniel Juncadella, who both had great experiences.

"We’ve actually spent time with pro drivers recently and we got to see what they could do behind the wheel of a Thrustmater T300RS in Driveclub! It was epic to see Sebastian Loeb acing almost every corner of an epic downhill point-to-point route set in Canada — and set one of the fastest lap times we’ve ever seen — on his first go."

"And watching Daniel Juncadella go up against near-perfect AI and stay wheel-to-wheel with them all the way to finish line was awesome."

Driveclub launches on October 7 in North America and October 8 in Europe only for the PS4.
