The upcoming racing game is looking really good in its beta, apparently

One of the Driveclub beta participants on the PS4 platform has just stepped forward and shared quite a lot of different details about the game's actual racing mechanics, its visual quality, and its AI system.

The PS4 is set to receive just a few big exclusives this fall but among them is Driveclub, the racing game that was initially set to appear last year alongside the console's launch, but was eventually delayed for almost a year.

Currently, in order to make sure that the game delivers on its promises, a special PS4 beta is taking place, with select members of the community being asked to try out the racing title and share feedback with the development team at Evolution.

One of these participants has stepped forward on NeoGAF and shared quite a lot of impressions about the new title, touching on aspects like gameplay, visuals, or AI.

In terms of gameplay, Driveclub leans more towards the realistic simulator side of the racing genre, but this doesn't mean that some aspects aren't taking things to the arcade side.

"Gameplay really is fantastic. I've played a lot of racing games. From Burnout, PGR, Need For Speed series, Motorstorm, Gran Turismo, Forza (though not the Horizon series) and more. The car handling feels semi realistic, so a mix or realism and PGR style arcade, though I think it leans more towards realism," the tester said.

In terms of visuals, the game looks stellar, according to the beta participant, and while there are aliasing problems, they aren't that apparent during an actual race.

"Image quality and AA is not an issue. Aliasing is definitely visible, but it's not distracting and is barely noticeable while racing. Graphically it is the best racing game I've played (haven't played PC racing games). At first I didn't think it looked that great, but then you keep racing and it just hits you."

"It's stunning, and just feels so rich. The environments just feel like they've had so much attention and it really brings the races to life. I haven't really experienced this before, it's just very dense. Motion blur is really well implemented, it doesn't feel distracting at all."

The sound quality is also quite good, according to the tester, and the AI is pretty aggressive, just like in Evolution's previous Motorstorm titles, which appeared on the PS3 and PS Vita platforms.

Bear in mind that these are just the impressions of a simple Driveclub beta participant, so take them with a grain of salt.

The game is set to appear in almost a month on the PS4, and will receive a free PS Plus edition for subscribers to Sony's service.
