Evolution is improving server performance

Driveclub developer Evolution Studios confirms that it's still working hard on the Driveclub PS Plus edition, as well as the private lobbies for the full version of the game, by improving the servers and maximizing their performance.

Driveclub was one of the most anticipated PS4 games of last year, not only because it looked like an impressive racing experience but also because Sony promised to roll out alongside it a free PS Plus edition that had less content but was available to all PlayStation Plus subscribers.

Unfortunately, due to the massive server and multiplayer issues encountered by the game at launch, the release of the Driveclub PS Plus version got pushed back indefinitely, as not even those who had the full version of the title were able to play it.

Over time, Driveclub got quite a few updates and is now enjoyable, both offline and online, so PS Plus owners who are looking forward to trying out the game for free are beginning to get quite irritated with the lack of details from Sony or Evolution.

Evolution is improving server performance for PS Plus edition

While talking with fans on Facebook, Driveclub developer Evolution confirms that the team is still working on improving the servers and their performance in order to support both the Driveclub PS Plus edition and another major upcoming feature, in the form of Private Lobbies for those who want to create their own racing experiences.

"Yes, we are still developing Private Lobbies and planning to add them in a future update. The team working on this is focused on improving server performance, which will make supporting the PS+ Edition possible as well as adding Private Lobbies and improving many other areas of connected play."

As such, while Driveclub is getting quite a bit of DLC, including the free Japan add-on that boasts five tracks for the game and is already live through patch 1.10 on PS4, Evolution is still working on supporting the upcoming PlayStation Plus edition of the title.

Expect to hear more about it in the following weeks.
