Barrymore, who was just six years old when she became famous for her part in the 1982 ET directed by Steven Spielberg. Now, Drew is in sequel talks with Spielberg.

According to an inside Hollywood source, "Drew has spoken to Steven about it. Although he thought she was joking at first, he's actually giving it serious thought".

Apparently, the "Fever Pitch" producer, now in her 30s, thinks the world needs another feelgood movie like ET right and she's prepared to work with Steven to make it happen", the source added. (contactmusic.com)

Charlie's angel Drew Barrymore is anxious to resume her role as Gertie Elliot, but only if Spielberg, who directed the first film, agrees to oversee the project.

According to some reports, the sequel will see ET return to a now grown up Gertie, desperate for help saving his family from extinction.

Steven Spielberg did not make any official comments on the project but has recently stated that another ET would be out of fashion.

I'm not one of the biggest fans of E.T, still i wouldn't mind having a sequel for it...as long as there are at least two actresses/actors that were in the 1982 version, then it would be worth watching.
