MMORTS with RPG elements coming this summer

The first Dreamlords title was not exactly a critically acclaimed game, but MMORTS has its fans and this is exactly the reason why Swedish developers Lockpick Entertainment have decided to develop a sequel as, unlike the MMOs you know, this one actually ended. But since no game that brings profit doesn't get a sequel, we're going to get Dreamlords - The Reawakening and we already have promises that it will come with a great gaming experience, a lot of new stuff and, most important, it will be free to play.

However, we all know that "free to play" actually means that you'll have to play if you want to feel the complete experience or gain an advantage over the other players and this is exactly what Dreamlords - The Reawakening allows you to do: pay for some goodies, laugh at "non-VIP" players. However, you will have the option to play the game for free. The only thing I don't know yet is how "playable" the core version is.

But we will all find out pretty soon: the game will be released in the second quarter of 2008 and a closed alpha version is already being tested by over 1000 senior Dreamlords players. It features an improved user interface with a client-based 3D Patria, some simplified rules (without ruining the game's complexity) and more RPG-like style, with greater customization options such as different upgrades, items and gears that will boost your dreamlord.

The story continues where the original game left off: the world really ended in disaster and Cynos had to put the world to sleep in order to heal itself. Eventually, after eons of silence, the time has come for Dreamlords to reawaken and put the world back together. Still, the twist comes from the fact that not only Dreamlords have reawakened; that is the moment you enter the game and start writing history.
