Investigation is underway to determine who started fight that nearly wrecked the place

The other night at the NYC club, Drake and Chris Brown and their respective entourages got into a very violent fight that put several people in the hospital and nearly wrecked the place. For the time being, though, at least officially, neither singer wants to assume responsibility for the incident.

Even though reports online suggest that the fight did not start because the two men hate each other because they both dated Rihanna at some point, it seems that Drake caused the entire madness by trash talking Chris.

TMZ reports that all hell broke loose when Drake, noticing Chris with his posse, got up and gave him the finger, while also yelling obscenities at him.

In his turn, Chris responded the same way, getting up with several members of his crew to hurl profanities at Drake.

The Canadian singer felt “offended” by what Chris was yelling at him, went and got backup and, next thing you know, everyone was throwing bottles and punches to whoever happened to be standing next to them.

“With tensions running high, someone threw a bottle – which set the whole thing off and the shoving turned to punches. We're told club security rushed in to break up the fight and called police for backup,” TMZ reports.

“Brown and Drake left the scene by the time cops showed up but several members of their entourages remained at the club. Multiple members of both crews required medical assistance,” the report further says.

“We're told the club suffered some serious damage in the fight – including busted up tables, broken mirrors, shattered lighting and glass scratches all over the floors,” the e-zine adds.

A tourist who was with neither crew ended up in the hospital with a huge gash on her head after one of the bottles hit her. She might be pressing charges, word online has it.

The same goes for Chris, TMZ reports in a separate post.

The NYPD investigation now underway is treating him like a victim and an eyewitness, which means there are several reports he did not provoke the fight.

At the same time, Drake isn't considered a suspect yet, which means police are still to determine that he did start the fight.

A rep for the Canadian singer has issued a statement to deny all involvement in the violent brawl, saying he was already heading for the exit at the time it started (as a side note, reports claim he hid in the club's toilet when he saw the madness he's provoked).

“Drake did not participate in any wrongdoing of any kind last night at W.i.P. He was on his way out of the club when the altercation began. [Drake] did not engage in any activity which resulted in injury to person or damage to property,” says his publicist.

Brown's rep says basically the same thing, adding that the star is fully cooperating with police officers to find out the real culprit.

“[Brown, his model girlfriend Karrueche Tran and other friends] sustained several injuries. Chris and his party are cooperating with New York authorities who are pursuing this incident further,” Brown's rep says.
