Capcom has unveiled the first online event that it will run for its upcoming Dragon's Dogma role-playing game, in the form of the Ur-Dragon Challenge, which will pit players against a mighty beast and reward them with copious amounts of loot.
Dragon's Dogma hasn't even been released and Capcom is already hyping up the special post-launch challenges that it will issue to players in order to get them to try out the unique multiplayer in the RPG.
The first event that will be rolled out for Dragon's Dogma is called the Ur-Dragon and sees players face off against, as you might have guessed, the mighty Ur-Dragon, a powerful beast that will prove to be quite a challenge.
"Known as the Ur-Dragon, this is the challenge that awaits Dragon’s Dogma owners," Capcom said. "Players and their parties of Pawns from around the world can compete collectively online in an asynchronous encounter against the Ur-Dragon via Xbox LIVE or PlayStation Network. The effect of each party’s attacks will be combined, but be warned its immense strength means it will take multiple encounters before the Ur-Dragon finally falls."
All players will be rewarded with common and rare items when they inflict damage upon the Ur-Dragon, while the player who deals the final blow will receive the biggest reward.
"Players without an online connection can also take on the Ur-Dragon alone, but the rewards will be different to those received online. All slayers of the Ur-Dragon will have their names and play times recorded in a hall of fame for others to view and aim to beat," the Japanese company added.
The Ur-Dragon event will kick off right when Dragon's Dogma is released, on May 22 in North America, and May 25, in Europe.
Expect to hear some more details about the challenge soon but, until then, check out some screenshots and a video of the Ur-Dragon event below.
