14 DAY TRIAL // Square Enix announces that Dragon Quest Heroes, the Warriors-like title previously exclusive to Japan, is now officially coming to the West.
The game is coming out in Japan today, exclusively on the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 computer entertainment systems from Sony, from Omega Force, the makers of the famous Samurai Warriors and Dynasty Warriors series of hack-and-slash video games.
Dragon Quest Heroes features gameplay very similar to that of Omega Force's other titles but introduces a number of gameplay twists, in addition to using the setting and characters of the highly popular role-playing game franchise Dragon Quest.
The game is set in the magical kingdom of Erusaze, a place where man and monsters live in peace, until one day mankind finds itself under attack.
The storyline follows the heroes as they rise up against insurmountable odds, defeating entire armies by themselves, and going against giant monsters, in order to restore order to their world.
The game features a large cast of characters from across the franchise, ranging from Dragon Quest IV to Dragon Quest VIII, as well as some completely new ones for players to meet.
An interesting twist on the role-playing game formula
The latest proper entry in the series was Dragon Quest X, released back in 2012, and Square Enix is currently working on Dragon Quest XI, scheduled to come out sometime during 2016.
Until then, fans can always pick up a copy of Dragon Quest Heroes, as Square Enix reveals that its game will be reaching western shores sometime later during 2015, exclusively on the PlayStation 4 home console.
While the game won't be localized on the PS3, the PS4 edition will be released as both a boxed retail product and a digital download via the PlayStation Store.
