Itadaki Street is a series of computer games initially put together by Yuji Horri, the guy who also created Dragon Quest. The first iteration appeared in 1991 on the Famicon and a lot of sequels were released for the Super Famicom, the PlayStation, the PlayStation 2, the PlayStation Portable and the Nintendo DS.
Dragon Quest & Final Fantasy in Itadaki Street Portable was created by Armor Project and Think Garage and launched in May 2006 on the PSP, being published by Square Enix.
There are quite a lot of characters from Dragon Quest appearing, including Slime, Alena, Mara (Manya in Japan), Nara (Minea in Japan), Bianca, Kiefer, Maribel, Jessica, Angelo (Kukule in Japan), Yangus, Trode, Marcello.
There are also characters from Final Fantasy in the game: Cloud Strife, Sephiroth, Aerith, Gainsborough, Tifa Lockhart, Yuffie Kisaragi, Quistis Trepe, Zidane Tribal, Vaan, Ashe, Balthier, Fran, Basch, Penelo, Chocobo and Eiko Carol.
Dragon Quest & Final Fantasy in Itadaki Street Portable is very similar to the Monopoly that Western gamers are familiar with. A dice is being used to move the character around the board where they can buy properties and, if another player lands on theirs, can collect their money.
The game is played with virtual currency and there is a level of complexity higher than Monopoly as players are able to buy and then sell shares in most of the blocks on the board. Each game can accommodate up to four players and there is also a role-playing aspect involved.
