Eyedentity Games is announcing that it is developing Dragon Nest, a new MMO which aims to attract both Western and Eastern audiences with a fantasy story and interesting twists. The new company is staffed with veteran game designers that have previous experience designing MMOs for the likes of NCsoft, Gravity, Phatagram and Webzen.

The setup of the game is pretty standard as far as MMO premises go. The world of Lagendia has been overrun by dragons, which is not a good thing. The goddess Altea, the only one who has the power to stop the invasion, is poisoned by unknown evil forces and her powers are wanning. The heroes of the game will have to venture out into the world to battle the dragons that infest it and search for a cure to the poison while also trying to find out who is behind the current events.

The main twist on otherwise normal mechanics will be that high level players of the game will gain the ability to make themselves morph into powerful dragons to stand a chance against the biggest of the enemy beats. More standard ways of killing dragons using sorcery and steel will also be available for players.

Chris Lee, founder and CEO of Eyedentity Games, says that "Dragon Nest is a thrilling game with whimsical characters and fast action that is sure to appeal to a wide audience. From the game's intense combat featuring combination and chain attacks to randomly changing dungeons and sporadically spawning monsters, players will be kept on their toes as they engage in non-stop exploration of the colorful Dragon Nest world".

Dragon Nest is still in very early development. A beta is planned for sometime late in 2008, but it's very probable it will only be available in South Korea. The worldwide launch of the game is not expected earlier than the summer of 2009.
