Independent developer Grimm Bros has announced the launch of the Steam Greenlight campaign for its upcoming PC title Dragon Fin Soup, a hybrid tactical action role-playing game with roguelike elements.

The game will be the small studio's debut title, set in a world inspired by both classical fairy tales and classic Japanese role playing games, and its Steam Greenlight page is now up and running.

"With accessible controls and brilliant visuals, Dragon Fin Soup will appeal to core gamers looking for a rich, tactical experience and RPG fans who love dark, twisted tales. Typically turn based games can be slow and discontinuous, however in Dragon Fin Soup movement, combat and controls have been streamlined to empower you to set your own pace,” said Grimm Bros CEO Ash Monif.

Dragon Fin Soup's high-resolution world is truly beautiful, as can be seen in the pre-alpha trailer, and the gameplay will feature a mixture of role-playing game mechanics intermingled with tactical decisions, with turn-based but action-oriented controls.

Players can either embark on a perilous journey to unravel the tale of their characters in Story Mode, or discover the wilds of Asura, the giant dragon-turtle god on whose back the adventure starts, in Survival Mode.

Gamers will venture through spidery forests, ice caves, abandoned mines, scorching deserts and haunted mansions, as they tackle scripted events and procedurally generated missions or struggle for their lives and the highest score in Survival mode, a classic roguelike design of endless battle and permanent death.
