Atari has just confirmed that Dragon Ball Z: Burst Limit is currently in development for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. A game series such as Dragon Ball Z couldn't have possibly missed a next-gen installment and if you thought DBZ on PS2 was fun, wait till Burst Limit is released later on this year, as Namco Bandai is at the helm, coordinating every step of the development process.

The official Atari report reads: Exploding into the next level of intensity with next-gen graphics, online gameplay and lightning fast action, Dragon Ball Z: Burst Limit is being developed by NAMCO BANDAI Games Inc. and is slated for a 2008 release.

According to the renowned publisher, Dragon Ball Z: Burst Limit will revolutionize the series by with fierce online battles and radical 3D graphic effects only possible on the two upper-mentioned systems. As Atari themselves reckon, Dragon Ball Z: Burst Limit will blur the line between video game and iconic anime series. DBZ Burst Limit will deliver graphically enhanced characters and realistic battle stages and environments.

"Atari is excited and ready to offer fans the next iteration of the Dragon Ball Z video game series on the next-gen consoles," said Donny Clay, Producer, Atari, Inc. "With explosive cinematic graphics and online gameplay, fans of the series and of the fighting genre will surely enjoy Dragon Ball Z: Burst Limit."

Now, what you see to the top side of the article is a couple of Dragon Ball Z screens. The first one is a screenshot of Dragon Ball Z: Budokai, GameCube version. And if you think that's lame, check out the PS2 version of the game - that one was released a year before the GC port and didn't benefit from cel-shading. The image below however is a screenshot of the very game we're here to discuss. Dragon Ball Z: Burst Limit. Keep in mind that the game isn't even out. Namco Bandai sure came a long way with the availability of next-gen hardware and one can only wonder how much can they really squeeze out of the PS3 and Xbox 360

Needless to say, it is going to be one of the best (if not THE best) looking fighting games developed to date.
