Dragon Ball Z: Budokai is a videogame developed by the Dimps Corporation and published by Infogrames. It was created for the PlayStation 2 console from Sony and for the GameCube and released in November 2002. It can be classed as an action title with role playing game elements, featuring tropes specific to anime and martial arts games. It is played from a third person perspective.
Dragon Ball Z: Budokai is based on a very popular cartoon series that had huge ratings on both Japanese and American TV programs. The story of the game starts with Goku defeating Piccolo while fighting in the World Marital Arts Tournament. He then goes to visit MasterRoshi. Problems begin immediately after, as Raditz, who is his brother, kidnaps his son, Gohan. After saving him, Goku is sent to train King Kai. The entire game is based on the adventures that take place between the Sayan encounter and the Cell Games Saga. All the characters that the fans of the series know from TV make appearances and there are some new and exciting things to find out about the Dragon Ball universe.
Dragon Ball Z: Budokai offers quite a lot of options to players. There's a Practice mode where they can prepare for the coming fights and there's a World Tournament Mode where they can buy new moves and fight better and better enemies. Collecting seven Dragonballs allows players to summon Shenron and to unlock fresh modes of play.
