Namco Bandai is pretty serious about creating new videogames based on one of its most important franchises, Dragon Ball. After announcing that it plans to release a Nintendo Wii game, called Dragon Ball: Revenge of King Piccolo, during fall, the publisher is now saying that it will also launch a
DS title, called Dragon Ball Z: Attack of the Saiyans, which is set to come at the same time in Europe and in the PAL regions.
Attack of the Saiyans should follow the story of Goku, whom the player will be controlling, beginning with the events of the World Tournament and Piccolo's defeat. Then, players will be able to experience a huge chunk of the Dragon Ball Z universe as they will get to visit some iconic locations, like the Snow Mountain or the extended jungles. Namco Bandai is warning that some surprise areas will be included and that players will need to work quite a bit to uncover them.
Dragon Ball Z: Attack of the Saiyans is set to introduce a Story mode that will feature a wide variety of collectables and unlockables to keep players interested. Some of the content in the game will be completely new, having never been available in the anime or the manga that are part of the Dragon Ball franchise. Namco Bandai is set to offer more details on the title in the coming weeks and months and more information will probably pop up at the E3 trade show.
Attack of the Saiyans is meant to complement the content that players will see in
Revenge of King Piccolo and the company surely hopes that players will be picking up both videogames to get the complete story. Still, some fans of the series will grumble about the fact that they need to buy two titles for two different platforms in order to have their Goku fix.
