Namco Bandai is serious about targeting the Western market with its biggest franchises as it has just announced that it plans to release a new title in the Dragon Ball franchise, called Revenge of King Piccolo, designed specifically for the Nintendo Wii home gaming console.

The game is set to be released during autumn, probably in the ever important run up to the Christmas shopping period, and Namco Bandai is surely hoping that the popularity of the characters will out the release high in the sales charts.

Namco Bandai is eager to explore a section of the Dragon Ball saga that has been seldom visited by videogames so Revenge of King Piccolo should allow players to control Kid Goku just as he is about to set out for the first fantastic adventures together with his friends. The developer is saying that it plans to keep the trademark humor of the series while also injecting some much needed action and adventure into the franchise.

Dragon Balls: Revenge of King Piccolo is set to feature original Japanese music and voice overs in order to immerse the player in the atmosphere of the series. The graphics of the upcoming title will be based on the original Dragon Ball work of Akira Toriyama, who is well known for his defining work on all the releases.

There will be a variety of game modes in the new Dragon Balls title. The most important will be the Story mode that will follow Kid Goku's adventures from the Red Ribbon Saga to the King Piccolo period but a lot of play time will surely be invested in the Versus mode, which allows characters to clash in battle.

The game will also be choke full of collectables and unlockables, in what has become one of the trademarks of Japanese releases and of the Dragon Ball series.
