The company is also working on new intellectual property

The team at publisher Electronic Arts in charge of game publishing is saying that the recently launched Dragon Age: Inquisition is one of the most successful releases for the company and that BioWare has a huge opportunity to develop the series in interesting ways in the coming years.

The information comes from the 2015 Technology, Internet & Media Conference where Blake Jorgensen, the chief financial officer, has stated that there are no plans to launch a new title in 2015, although it’s unclear whether this refers to core installments or downloadable content is also included.

The executive is quoted by Gamespot as saying that “Longer-term, we're very excited. BioWare, they just won Game of the Year at the DICE Awards. We're very excited about the success of that team and what we can do with that team. I think there's a huge opportunity for Dragon Age.”

Electronic Arts has not yet said exactly how many copies of Dragon Age: Inquisition have been sold, but no other BioWare-created title has come close, according to the company.

Jorgensen also says that the studio is working on some new intellectual property which will not be revealed officially very soon but is very exciting in terms of potential.

Shadow Realms has been canceled at BioWare Austin

Even as the CFO of Electronic Arts was praising the potential that BioWare had, the company was announcing that the Austin studio was no longer working on Shadow Realms, the team-based four-versus-one title that was revealed last year.

It seems that the resources associated with it will now be redirected towards Star Wars: The Old Republic, the MMO that has gained a solid following since it has gone free-to-play, and to the new Mass Effect title that is in development.

It’s unclear whether the new intellectual property will be shown soon.

The studio is also supposedly working on a story-driven title linked to the new Star Wars movie trilogy, although there is no connection to the Battlefront title that DICE is currently working on.

BioWare has pledged that it will support Dragon Age: Inquisition in the long term with downloadable content for both the single and the multiplayer, but so far the company has only delivered patches and special events for the weekend.
